VAWA Applications

Abused spouses and children of U.S. citizen or permanent residents, and abused parents of U.S. citizen children may be eligible for relief under The Violence Against Women Act. VAWA applicants may benefit from work authorization and eventually permanent residence. If you have been subject to physical or emotional abuse at the hands of a family member, you may be eligible for relief under VAWA.

Consular Processing

Consular Processing acts as an alternative pathway to Adjustment of Status. Consular Processing allows eligible individuals to apply for permanent residence outside the United States. Individuals who entered the U.S. without inspection or admission are generally required to apply for a green card through Consular Processing.

Adjustment of Status

Adjustment of Status is the process of applying for permanent residence while the applicant is inside the United States. Individuals who are physically present in the United States, were inspected and admitted, have an immediately available immigrant visa, and are not otherwise inadmissible, may be eligible to adjust status.

T Visa Applications

Victims of sex or labor trafficking may qualify for a T Visa. T Visa applicants may benefit from work authorization and eventually apply for permanent residence. If you have been subject to sexual or labor exploitation and you have reported it to law enforcement (or plan on doing so), you may be eligible for a T Visa.

U Visa Applications

Victims or witnesses of particular crimes may qualify for U Visas. U Visa applicants may benefit from work authorization and eventually apply for permanent residence. If you have been the victim of a qualifying crime and you have assisted law enforcement throughout their investigation, you may be eligible for a U Visa.

Temporary Protected Status

Temporary Protected Status is available to individuals whose home countries have been designated as unsafe. TPS allows individuals to reside and work in the United States for a temporary period. TPS eligibility requires individuals from designated countries to submit their applications within a specified registration window.

Asylum Applications

Individuals seeking relief from persecution may be eligible to apply for asylum. Noncitizens must apply for asylum within one year of having entered the United States, with limited exceptions. Individuals not in removal proceedings may apply for asylum through USCIS, while individuals in removal proceedings must apply with the immigration court. Asylees are eligible to apply for permanent residency a year after having been granted asylum.
